Cool bar! A bit retro. Cozy and dimly lit. Friendly, down to earth, experienced bartender. Great indoor water landscaping. Wonderful outdoor seating, however, a unusual multitude of bees and flys. Unfortunately, so pesky, we cut our visit short. The food was hot, delicious and well proportioned. The prices were great too. Will gladly visit this place again when in the area. Four stars were given only for the pesky bee and fly situation.
We stopped by for lunch and found out that it was a all you can eat brunch. The food was delicious and looked amazing. Our waitresses Michele was amazing. She was very nice and helpful. She came back many times to check on us and refilled our drinks. I like service like that. When I'm back in town, I'm stopping again.
We loved the food here. Sweet potato fries were yummy. We had a split vote on the cinnamon dill dip for them. Agree the cheese curds are THE best! Large portions and price is about right. Our waitress, Alexa, was very attentive and pleasant. Nice window view and quiet atmosphere. We will return again to try the Sunday brunch which runs from 10-2pm. Kids menu is small with few choices. Table cloths on the tables and decorations made it nice. Patio area would be fun in the summer. We didn’t check out the bar but it seemed popular.
The Dalles House has great nightly specials. One of our favorites is 2-for-1 Thursday’s, where the deal applies to most regular drinks. The burgers are very good - we usually get the Croix burger, and for vegetarians there’s the popular wild rice veggie burger. The cheese curds are also delicious, and you can upgrade your fries to curds for a small upcharge. Service can be slow if you’re in a rush, but since we typically go just to hang out, that’s not an issue.
Great atmosphere, fun place to be!
